I feel that Westtown's current policy on giving out contraception is inadequate in our modern times, and although sex on campus is against the rules, the health center should give out contraception with trust that the students will not have sex on campus. I also believe that, if possible, Westtown hire someone who is legally allowed to give prescriptions for Plan B and hormonal birth control such as "the pill" and "the patch". Preferably, this person would also be certified to give gynecological exams in the case of a student not being able to get to a doctor within reasonable time.
To put a "no questions asked" policy for distribution of condoms and dental dams into a written policy would help students not feel as if they were going to be interrogated when they ask for birth control. It is also imperative that SHAE members be given condoms as to create a student resource for those uncomfortable with talking to a health center employee. The SHAE members will also be there for sexual advice, so the students will be supported in their important decision.
